Vertical Jump Mat

Measure every jump your athletes take

Plyomat is a portable vertical jump mat that times ground contact to 0.001 seconds — turning every jump into real jump height, contact time, and Reactive Strength Index. Pairs with the free Plyomat 3.0 app. No subscription, ever.

The basics

What a vertical jump mat actually does

A vertical jump mat — sometimes called a contact mat or switch mat — is a pressure-sensitive surface that registers the exact moment an athlete leaves the ground and the moment they land. From that flight time it calculates vertical jump height with simple physics, and across repeated jumps it measures ground contact time and Reactive Strength Index (RSI).

That is a different, far more useful number than a jump-and-reach or a Vertec. Instead of one height off a wall, you get the full reactive picture: how high, how fast off the ground, and how that changes across a set, a session, or a season. Plyomat's Controller 3.0 times contact to 0.001 seconds, the precision that makes RSI and reactive testing trustworthy.

What every jump tells you

Jump Height

Vertical displacement computed from flight time on every contact — clean, repeatable, no tape on the wall.

Contact Time

Ground-contact time to 0.001s — the foundation of reactive strength and plyometric quality.

Reactive Strength Index

Jump height ÷ contact time. The single best field marker of explosive, elastic athleticism. Learn about RSI →

Asymmetry & DRI

Left/right and dynamic reactive imbalances that flag return-to-play risk before it becomes injury.

Questions

Vertical jump mat FAQ

What is a vertical jump mat?
A vertical jump mat (also called a contact mat or switch mat) is a pressure-sensitive mat that detects the instant an athlete leaves the ground and lands again. From that flight time it calculates vertical jump height, and from repeated jumps it measures ground contact time and Reactive Strength Index. The Plyomat switch mat pairs with the Controller 3.0, which times contact to 0.001 seconds.
How accurate is a jump mat compared to a force plate?
For jump height and contact-time metrics, a quality contact mat tracks within a few percent of a force plate at a fraction of the cost. Plyomat's Controller 3.0 resolves contact to 0.001s — the precision that matters for RSI and reactive jump testing. Force plates add force-curve detail, but most field and weight-room testing only needs accurate flight and contact times.
Does the Plyomat jump mat require a subscription?
No. The Plyomat 3.0 app is free for every hardware owner — on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows, and the web. There is no per-athlete fee and no recurring software cost.
Is it portable enough for field testing?
Yes. The 28×14-inch switch mats are light, durable polyurethane and connect with a 2-meter cable, so you can test in a gym, a weight room, or on the field. The controller runs about two weeks per charge.
How much does a Plyomat vertical jump mat cost?
Individual switch mats start at $200. A complete portable system with two mats, the Controller 3.0, and cables is $950. Every option includes the free Plyomat 3.0 app.
